The Bout of Books Read-a-Thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender
and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal.
The Cover Love mini challenge is hosted by Ms. Buff.
The goal of this challenge is to post our fav covers or the funniest or ridiculous covers we've seen. I decided to post my 2 most fav covers, as well as one ridiculous cover.
Link to the mini challenge HERE!
My most fav covers without a doubt are the limited adult edition of Neil Gaiman's The Graveyard Book & the UK hardback edition of Erin Morgenstern's The Night Circus.
Why these are my most fav?
Because they're perfect for the stories inside.
When I first laid my eyes on this edition of The Graveyard Book, I was left speechless. I've already read the book, (I actually own the edition with the blue cover), so when I saw this:
...I was blown away by how perfect it is for this book. Too bad it was a limited edition, so of course it's sold out :( but it's just so, so beautiful & eerie & amazing & perfect for this book!
Now, I have to admit that this edition of The Night Circus is probably the most gorgeous looking book that I own. As for the cover, I thought it was beautiful before I saw it IRL, but it's even more gorgeous. Now, I couldn't find a pic online of the full jacket, so I had to take pics of mine:
...just so gorgeous & so perfect for this book, too. That's why it's one of my most fav covers!
Now, for one ridiculous cover.
I came across this cover a few years ago, and I knew right away I want to use this one for this mini challenge, although I didn't remember the title, so it took me a while to find it.
Anyway, I think it's just so ridiculous. I mean, seriously? A flower sprouting from her ass? I couldn't stop laughing at how ridiculous it looks when I laid my eyes on it for the first time. So, sure, maybe it's somehow related to one of the stories inside, but I really, really hope not. And it's actually too bad, because the art is actually pretty, but quite ridiculous.
What do you think?
Oh wow! It looks like there's flowers growing out of her bum and her armpits... how did they not notice how silly that looks? And her hair looks so good too, what a shame. It could have been a really beautiful cover.
ReplyDeleteAgree about The Night Circus, it's on my To Read pile and I keep sneaking stares at the cover. :-) I've never seen that edition of The Graveyard Book before (I've got the blue one). It's really striking, and definitely suits the story so well! Great choices! :-)
Even the ridiculous one is easy on the eyes, but yes, the concept is silly. xD
ReplyDeleteLove The Night Circus cover!
Hi! Can I use your photos of The Night Circus cover art in a blog post? I'm doing an Awards one for the books I read in 2012, and awarded The Night Circus "Best Cover Art" but like you I could not find any pictures of the full cover, and unfortunately I own a paperback copy so I don't have a dust cover to photograph. I will of course credit you with the photos and link back to your blog. My blog is www.bookpolygamist.wordpress.com if you want to check it out beforehand :)
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Hi :) Yeah, you can use them :)
