Dewey's 24-Hour Read-a-Thon: Start + Wrap Up!

Once again, it's time for Dewey's 24-Hour Read-a-Thon.

As always, the read-a-thon for me starts at 2 pm on Saturday, and ends at 2 pm on Sunday.

And this will be my 14th time participating.

As for my plans, I just hope to read as much as I can & as long as I can. I have some snacks ready, and I'll read whatever I pick up at the moment, no matter if it's an old fav or a book I haven't read yet. Anything goes, and lots to pick from. I have a pile of old favs I might read, a pile I still haven't read, lots of shorter reads on my Kindle, and some even on my phone (thanks to NetGalley), and I'm especially looking forward to a few manga reads I have. I'll try to do some of the challenges, tweet updates & cheer on Twitter other participants, and visit the main blog every hour, but I'll mainly focus on reading this time, and as always, having lots of fun!

So, happy reading everyone!!!

Wrap Up:

I read the following books:

I also started, but read only 150 pages from

It was a good read-a-thon. I had fun, read (and enjoyed my reads), did some of the challenges (6, I think), snacked a lot and I just wish I didn't sleep as much as I did, but as read-a-thons go, it was a pretty successful one for me!!!

Dewey's 24-Hour Read-a-Thon: Start + Mini Challenges + Update!

Once again, it's time for Dewey's 24-Hour Read-a-Thon

As always, the read-a-thon for me starts at 2 pm on Saturday, and ends at 2 pm on Sunday.

And this will be my 13th time participating.

As for my plans, I just hope to read as much as I can & as long as I can. I have some snacks ready (ok, I admit, I already sampled some of the homemade ones, and they're delicious), and I'll read whatever I pick up at the moment, no matter if it's an old fav or a book I haven't read yet. Anything goes, and lots to pick from. I'll try to do some of the challenges, tweet & cheer on Twitter other participants, and as always, have lots of fun!

So, happy reading everyone!!!

Opening Meme

1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today?
~ At home, in Skopje, Macedonia.

2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?

~ Neil Gaiman's The Sleeper & the Spindle (I've been saving this one especially for the read-a-thon).

3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?

~ The delicious caramel & chocolate truffles I made. I barely stopped myself from eating them all this morning, and yes, that's how I started my day today. ^_^

4) Tell us a little something about yourself!

~ I'm still addicted to coffee, I used to read a lot, but lately not as much, so hopefully this will be the push I need, and I used to review books a lot on my blog, but I haven't been doing that, and I'm hoping to get back to it, though my attempts so far have been unsuccessful, I've probably gotten lazy lol

5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to?

~ No goals at all this time ;)

Update #1:

So, a third of the read-a-thon has passed, so I thought it's time to share my progress. I read 4 books so far: The Bear Who Couldn't Sleep, As Time Went By, Who Framed Jean Moustache? & The Sleeper & the Spindle. It might sound like a lot, but they're all shorter reads, and they're all illustrated, and most important of all, I enjoyed them all, and I'm happy with the way the read-a-thon has been going so far for me. I also started & read 40% from Maisey Yates' Tough Luck Hero and I'm hoping to finish it before the end of the read-a-thon, though I'll probably read something else, too. It's always good to mix it up ;) Beside the opening meme, the only other challenge I did was Operation: Quotation!.

My goal is to read 25 fantasy books.

I'm not posting a list, I'll just read whatever I'm in the mood for, though probably they will be a mix of first-reads & re-reads, and probably from all the types of fantasy (since I love it all). ;) I'll just list them as I read them.

2016 Series Enders Reading Challenge!

The 2016 Series Enders Reading Challenge is hosted by Sandy @ Somewhere Only We Know & Holly @ Words Fueled by Love.

The goal of this challenge is to read & review last books in series.

This challenge will run from January 1, 2016 until December 31, 2016.

There will be 4 levels:

Level 1: 1 – 5
Level 2: 5 – 10
Level 3: 10 – 15
Level 4: 15+

For more detailed info about this challenge & to sign up, visit the posts HERE or HERE.

Last year I failed at this challenge. I read only one final book, and even that one I never reviewed, so, yes, major fail. Hopefully, this year I'll do better. ;)

And so, I decided for Level 1: to read & review 5 series enders.

If I read 5, I'll be happy, especially because I'm not reading as much as I used to read over a year ago. Anyway, I'll list the books as I read & review them.

Chapter Break Bookish Bingo: January!

This monthly Bookish Bingo is hosted by Julie & Lynn @ Chapter Break!

Rules:
  • You may use the same book to fill multiple squares
  • You must have read (finished) the book in that month to count for that particular month’s card

I really like that every month there'll be a new card, and that the important thing is the number of squares, not getting a bingo (which had been hard for me to do in a few other bingo challenges I've participated in), as well as one book can fill multiple squares, which is perfect because it's a shorter bingo.

For more info about this challenge & to join, go HERE or to the January bingo post HERE!

I'll update the bingo card with my progress & list the books & categories below as I finish books.

Number of squares filled: 7

Squares + Books:

Cowboy - Take Me, Cowboy by Maisey Yates

Set on a ranch - Take Me, Cowboy by Maisey Yates

Friends to Lovers - Take Me, Cowboy by Maisey Yates

Free Space - Nobody But You by Jill Shalvis

Set in a city - The Secret Adversary by Agatha Christie

I filled only 7 squares, but I'm happy because I read only 5 books in January!

A Winter's Respite Read-a-Thon: Start & Update + Wrap Up!

A Winter's Respite Read-a-Thon is hosted by Michelle a.k.a The True Book Addict at her read-a-thon dedicated blog Seasons of Reading!

The read-a-thon started on Monday, January 18th at midnight CST and ends on Sunday, January 24th at 11:59 pm CST.

For more info & to join the read-a-thon, visit the posts HERE & HERE

On Twitter use the hashtag #WintersRespite.

Start & Update:

Obviously, I'm late again with the post & signing up, but I have been reading. Also, I just realised that I haven't done this particular read-a-thon since 2013, despite the fact that I almost never miss Michelle's other read-a-thons.

Anyway, I read The Secret Adversary by Agatha Christie. This was actually a re-read for me (read it years ago, but in another language, Serbian or Croatian, and it was a borrowed book from an uncle, now I snatched up the free English edition on Gutenberg), but once again I thoroughly loved it. There's just something about this book & its characters that I still find quite adorable & charming & so much fun. Also, I started this book a couple of days before the start of the read-a-thon, but most of it I finished since the read-a-thon begun. And yes, I would read this again!

No idea what I'll read next, maybe from the pile of NetGalley books I have that are yet to be published, but I plan to continue reading.

 Wrap Up:

I didn't do as good as I hoped, I just didn't read as much as I wanted to. Anyway, as I wrote above, I finished Agatha Christie's The Secret Adversary. I also read The Snow Queen by Hans Christian Andersen (I actually thought that I read it for the first time, but just noticed that I've actually read it before, just forgot it, so this was a re-read, though now I read it from the copy I snatched up from NetGalley for the new upcoming edition). I also started a couple of other books, though I didn't finish them: The Laughing Prince: Jugoslav Folk & Fairy Tales by Parker Fillmore & Cogling by Jordan Elizabeth. I was in a fairy tale / fantasy mood. Overall, I did okay!
