Summary:
Ali Winters is not having a good day. Her boyfriend left her, everyone in town thinks she's a thief, and now she's about to be kicked out of her home. Her only shot at keeping a roof over her head and clearing her name is to beg for help from a police detective who's as sexy as he is stern....
After a high-profile case goes wrong, Luke Hanover returns to his hometown for some peace and quiet. Instead he finds a bombshell brunette in a heap of trouble. As he helps Ali put her world back together, the pieces of Luke's own life finally seem to fall into place. Is this the start of a sizzling fling? Or are Luke and Ali on the brink of something big in a little town called Lucky Harbor?
My Thoughts on the Book:
I loved It Had To Be You. It's another great addition to the Lucky Harbor series. It has anything you would wish for in a fun adult contemporary romance: fun & quirky characters, hilarious situations, great main characters, as well as great secondary characters, lovely & sweet romance, and the cute town of Lucky Harbor. Seriously, who wouldn't want to end up in a town like that & fall in love? So, yeah, Jill Shalvis has done it again. It Had To Be You made me laugh out, made me smile & grin like a fool, made me root for both Ali & Luke, and ultimately fall in love with their story, the town of Lucky Harbor, as well as Jill Shalvis' writing all over again!I loved both Ali & Luke as characters. Ali is one amazing character that after everything she's been through, just doesn't give up. She's fun & sweet, and everyone loves her, but she can also be fierce. So, when suddenly her world crushes down after thinking she has finally found her happily ever after - her idiot boyfriend breaks up with her, he had cheated on her, he moves out & doesn't let her know that their lease is over until the last moment, and on top of all that he accuses her of theft - she's left practically homeless, as well as left trying to prove her innosense. Luke is another great character. He was loyal, hot (obviously), and although reluctant to get involve in Ali's troubles, ultimately he couldn't resist helping her. I really enjoyed the interactions between them, as well as the romance, it was sweet, fun & sexy, and I absolutely loved them as a couple. And the story itself was great, too. And it was fun guessing who stole the money, as well as their investigation. So, I can't recommend enough It Had To Be You. It's one of those books that will leave you with a smile on your face, as well as eager for more from all those great characters in Lucky Harbor, so I absolutely can't wait to read Jack & Leah's story in the next book Always On My Mind, because I already love them as characters, and I know it will be lots of fun :)And if you still haven't jumped the Lucky Harbor bandwagon, what are you waiting for? I highly recommend this book & the series to all fans of contemporary romance, as well as fun books!
