Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Series I Want to Finish This Summer!

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created & hosted @ The Broke and the Bookish.

I have quite a lot of book series that I've started, but still haven't finished, even though their storylines are over. This year, I've decided to try to make a dent in that pile, so I can focus on starting some of the newer ones, as well as some of the series that are yet to be started by me, and that have been waiting for years on my TBR pile for their turn. That being said, it's not always easy to say goodbye. Sometimes the not-enough-time for reading is the problem, but sometimes is the reluctance for it to be over. I also decided to keep my list only to series that are already over a.k.a their final book is published. And sure, a few these, I'm yet to buy, but that's the plan, and this is more of a list for me to keep me reminded what I need to read.

So, My Top Ten Series I want to Finish This Summer are:

#1 - Benny Imura series by Jonathan Maberry

I actually did read Dust & Decay when it was published, but I want to reread it first, before I devour the last 2 books. I actually already reread Rot & Ruin, and once again adored it, but when it comes to this series, I'm stuck in the place between wanting to finish it because I love the series, and at the same time, not wanting to say goodbye to the characters.

#2 - Night Huntress series by Jeaniene Frost

Yes, I only need to read the final book, but I'm still really reluctant to read it. I loved the first 4 books, but books 5 & 6 weren't as great (though Home for the Holidays novella was awesome), but I am going to make myself read it ;) *crossing my fingers*

#3 - Pendragon series by D. J. MacHale

D. J. MacHale's Pendragon series is one of the series I've started years before I started blogging (at the time the series still wasn't finished). There are 10 books in total, and even though I wanted to read them, their number is one of the reasons I've been postponing & the free time is the 2nd reason. But, this will be the year. I've already reread the 1st book, and read the 2nd one, but I still need to read books 3-10. Hopefully, in the summer, I'll have more time to dedicate to this world.

#4 - Ashfall trilogy by Mike Mullin

The Ashfall trilogy is the perfect example of my propensity to postpone. I absolutely loved Ashfall, but when it came to reading the sequel, I was afraid it won't be as amazing as the 1st one, and before I knew it, time passed & the final book was out, and I'm yet to read Ashen Winter, but I'm hoping to read them both soon.

#5 - Graceling Realm trilogy by Kristin Cashore

Another one I've been postponing, which is weird because I've been waiting for this book to be published for years. I actually started reading it last year, but I got disappointed (it was so different than I expected), so I put it aside, got into a months-long reading slump later & never returned to it. So, after my reading slump was over, I decided to start it again some time in the future, and I think this time will be different, now that I know what to expect. I'm hoping to read it soon, too. I think I'm ready ;)

#6 - Aftertime trilogy by Sophie Littlefield

I read Aftertime when it was published, and loved it, but I still haven't picked up the rest. Hopefully, I'll finally cross this over from my list this summer, too.

#7 - The Syrena Legacy trilogy by Anna Banks

Of Poseidon was so much fun, and the perfect summer read. I just might read it again, even though I remember it in details. Hopefully, the sequels will be just as great, and I can't wait. I think I'm going to read these when the weather will be really hot ;)

#8 - Bones of Faerie trilogy by Janni Lee Simner

When I read Bones of Faerie, I absolutely adored it. But, since it's been such a long time, I'm definitely going to have to reread it, before finishing this trilogy. Also, I'm interested if I'm going to love it as much again.

#9 - Daughter of Smoke & Bone trilogy by Laini Taylor

I only read the 1st book at the beginning of 2014, and I loved it. So, even though I'm yet to pick up the 2nd, I'm determined not to let this trilogy stay on my list of series I want to finish for long.

#10 - Caster Chronicles by Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl

I loved Beautiful Creatures when I first read it, and I loved it when I reread it. But, when I finally read Beautiful Dakness last year, I had lots of mixed feelings about it, so I'm yet to pick up the last two. But, after years, I think it's time.

Wish me luck!!!

  2. The Bones of faerie series sounds very interesting, that's kind of a different take on post- apocalyptic. Sounds like a good series!

  3. Great topic. I have the first three books in the Benny Imura series but have never read them. I definitely need to get to them soon though, have heard so many amazing things. Here's my post, I decided to go with my favourite mind-blowing book endings.
