Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Favorite New-To-Me Authors I Read In 2012!

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish. This feature was created because we are particularly fond of lists here at The Broke and the Bookish. We'd love to share our lists with other bookish folks and would LOVE to see your top ten lists.
Each week we will post a new Top Ten list that one of our bloggers here at The Broke and the Bookish will answer. Everyone is welcome to join. All we ask is that you link back to The Broke and the Bookish on your own Top Ten Tuesday post AND add your name to the Linky widget so that everyone can check out other bloggers lists! If you don't have a blog, just post your answers as a comment. Have fun with it! It's a fun way to get to know your fellow bloggers.

This wasn't an easy list for me to make, not because I had too many choices, but because I'm really particular when I call an author my fav, 'cause I usually want to read & love at least 2 or 3 books from an author before I might qualife him or her as my fav author, and this year I mostly read books from authors I've already tried before 2012, but I still managed to make a list of my new fav authors, but it has also some almost-fav authors on it.

So, My Top Ten Favorite New-To-Me Authors I Read In 2012 are:

1. Alison Goodman

Alison Goodman is definitely one of my fav authors now, because I read 3 of her 4 books so far & I loved them all. Singing the Dogstar Blues was really fun sci-fi novel, and Eon & Eona were absolutely amazing, definitely both are on my best reads list this year!!!

2. Rachel Vincent

Rachel Vincent also joined my list of my fav authors this year. Of course I've heard great things about her Werecats series, Soul Screamers series & even her last series Unbound, but I just haven't tried her books until this year, when I decided to delve into her Soul Screamers world, and slowly I got hooked so bad, so I'm looking forward to trying her other 2 series next year after I read the last SS book ;)

3. Steven Harper

Why? Because I love his Clockwork Empire series. Ok, I still haven't read the latest one The Dragon Men, but I loved The Doomsday Vault & The Impossible Cube - really great & fun steampunk series!

4. Gini Koch

Why? Because I love her Alien/Katherine "Kitty" Katt series!

5.  Seanan McGuire

Ok, so this is where I've broken my rule of reading at least 2 books before I call an author my fav. I've read only one book by Seanan McGuire, despite hearing great things about her October Daye series, as well as her Newsflesh Trilogy (written as Mira Grant), but I already count her as one of my fav authors. I absolutely loved Discount Armageddon, and I can't wait for the 2nd book in the series, and yeah, I'm hoping to finally read her other 2 series next year, too :)

6. Erin Morgenstern

Ok, so she's written only one book so far, but it was amazing, and I probably repeat myself, but The Night Circus is one of the most unique magical books I've read with one of the most magical places created in fiction ever, so of course I'm a fan of the author that imagined it ;) And I loved her writing style, too, that's why!

7. Kelley Armstrong

Ok, so I wouldn't quite call myself Kelley's fan yet, since she's written so many books, and I need to read more, but I loved her Darkest Powers trilogy, so there's a big possibility I'll become one ;)

8. Anne Elisabeth Stengl

So I've read only one book so far (last week actually) - Heartless - the first book in her Tales of Goldstone Wood series, and I'm already a fan because I absolutely loved her writing style. Can't wait to read the rest of the books in the series!

9. Carlos Ruiz Zafon

Ok, so Carlos Ruiz Zafon - I'd say I'm almost fan, but not quite there yet. Why? Well, I read only his Mist/Niebla trilogy, and although I absolutely loved The Prince of Mist, I only enjoyed the other 2 books. So, I still haven't read his best book Shadow of the Wind, I own it, including the sequel The Angel's Game, but I'm planning to hopefully & finally read them in 2013 after I buy The Prisoner of Heaven & Marina, too. So, not quite a fan, but almost since I'm already planning to buy his last 2 books I still don't own ;)

10. Gail Carson Levine

And the last but not least - Gail Carson Levine. Another author I've heard amazing things about, and yeah, I read only Ella Enchanted, but all the praise was well deserved, because it was amazing. I'm looking forward to reading more of her books!

  2. Oh my gosh, I love Ella Enchanted. It's been awhile since I read it, but it is one of my favorite fairytale retellings. Actually, I think it was the first retelling I ever read. Fairest by Levine is really good too. It's a Snow White retellings.
