Summary:

Have you ever had the feeling that you've lived another life? Been somewhere that has felt totally familiar, even though you've never been there before, or felt that you know someone well, even though you are meeting them for the first time? It happens.

In 2073 on the remote and secretive island of Blessed, where rumour has it that no one ages and no children are born, a visiting journalist, Eric Seven, and a young local woman known as Merle are ritually slain. Their deaths echo a moment ten centuries before, when, in the dark of the moon, a king was slain, tragically torn from his queen. Their souls search to be reunited, and as mother and son, artist and child, forbidden lovers, victims of a vampire they come close to finding what they've lost.

In a novel comprising seven parts, each influenced by a moon - the flower moon, the harvest moon, the hunter's moon, the blood moon - this is the story of Eric and Merle whose souls have been searching for each other since their untimely parting. Beautifully imagined, intricately and cleverly structured, this is a heart-wrenching and breathtaking love story with the hallmark Sedgwick gothic touches of atmosphere, blood-spilling and sacrifice

Top Ten Tuesday: My TBR List This Fall!

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish. This feature was created because we are particularly fond of lists here at The Broke and the Bookish. We'd love to share our lists with other bookish folks and would LOVE to see your top ten lists.
Each week we will post a new Top Ten list that one of our bloggers here at The Broke and the Bookish will answer. Everyone is welcome to join. All we ask is that you link back to The Broke and the Bookish on your own Top Ten Tuesday post AND add your name to the Linky widget so that everyone can check out other bloggers lists! If you don't have a blog, just post your answers as a comment. Have fun with it! It's a fun way to get to know your fellow bloggers.

My Top Ten Books I plan to read this fall are:

1. Neil Gaiman is my favourite author & although I've read almost all of his novels, I still haven't read this one, but I'm planning to finally read it this fall!

2. I absolutely loved the first 2 books in the series, so I can't wait to read this one, but I want to re-read them before I read this one, so although it's out today, I'll read it probably in a month or so...

3. I loved the 1st Tales of Terror book: Uncle Montague's Tales of Terror, so I'm looking forward to reading this one, which I plan to read around Halloween!

4. Monster War is the 3rd book in the Nightmare Academy series. I read (and loved) the first 2 books last year, but this one wasn't published yet, so I didn't read it. I got it a couple of months ago & I'm planning to re-read the other 2 books & then read this one!

5. I enjoyed a lot Firespell when I read it last year & I'm planning to re-read it & read Hexbound, too!

6. From the moment I came across this book, I had a feeling that it will be amazing, and from the reviews I read after that, apparently it is, so I can't wait to read it!

7. This one sounds really good, so I can't wait to read it.

8. Loved the first book, Aftertime, so I'm looking forward to reading this one, too!

9. I've been postponing reading this one for months, but I decided to read it before this year ends. This one is one of those choose your own ending book & I loved the other one, Cinderella: Ninja Warrior, so I'm looking forward to reading it. Also, I love fairy tale re-tellings!

10. I've read great reviews about this one, so I can't wait to read it! Also, you gotta love that cover ;)

Teaser Tuesdays #39

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

"The black ocean swelled under him, and he had nothing to which he could hold, neither a surfboard nor the dorsal fin of a shark. The sea was infinite, and he was as insignificant as a tracery of foam on a single wave. A great mass of water shouldered up, and he slid down its back a trough, and the trough became an abyss, the abyss a vortex that swallowed him."

Bout of Books Read-a-Thon: Wrap-Up Post!

I participated in the Bout of Books Read-a-Thon hosted by Amanda @ On A Book Bender last week!

My goal was to finish/read at least 7 books & I read a lot more!

I have to admit that although I listed lots of books as possible reading choices, I'm such a moody reader, that I read from other books, too!

Total number of books I've read/finished: 11
Total number of pages I've read: 2782

From all of these books, I finished 3 books that I've started previously (Aftertime; Invasion; and Dust & Decay), I read 2 graphic novels (The Gwaii and The Last Dragon), I read one novella (The Survivors) & I read 5 more books (Unthinkable; Real Men Will; No Place Like Holmes; Ember and Ash; & Cinder and Ella)! I also read from other books that I didn't finish (The Lipstick Laws; Mortal Mischief; Your Heart Belongs To Me; & Fury).

Here are the books I read in the order I finished them:

Overall, I enjoyed all of these books, some more, some less, but my top 3 reads are:

Best read of the week:

Definitely Dust & Decay by Jonathan Maberry. Rot & Ruin was one of my top favorite reads last year & I was wondering if the sequel will be as amazing, but Jonathan Maberry did it again! I can't recommend enough the series!

Ember and Ash by Pamela Freeman was really good epic fantasy & I loved it & I highly recommend it & it's my 2nd favorite read of the week!

And, my 3rd favorite read of the week is Aftertime by Sophie Littlefield. I loved everything about it (I already read the free novella Survivors, too) and I can't wait to read the sequel Rebirth!

So, I had lots of fun, read a lot, and I did catch up on my reading!

THANK YOU SO MUCH AMANDA for hosting the read-a-thon!!!
