On a daring quest to save a life, two friends are hurled into another world, where an evil sorceress seeks to enslave them. But then the lion Aslan's song weaves itself into the fabric of a new land, a land that will be known as Narnia. And in Narnia, all things are possible...

My Thoughts on the Book:

The Magician's Nephew was a pleasant surprise for me. I've had mixed feelings when it comes to the Chronicles of Narnia series while reading them. Some books I enjoyed quite a lot, they made me laugh & they were fun, but some I found really boring & didn't like at all, and the only one I loved was The Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe, of course. That is, until now. I loved The Magician's Nephew, and I can't decide which one I love more, but this one just might be my most fav one.

In The Magician's Nephew, we meet Polly & Digory. I loved their story, from the way they meet, to the adventure they go on, I adored every second of it & I adored them. They were fun, sweet, smart, brave & so lovable.

As for the story itself, I loved it also. It had that mood of classic fairytales or folktales or some other fantasy adventures I read a lot of when I was just a little girl, and I love that type of books, so of course I loved this one. The adventure was adventurous, entertaining, a little bit suspenseful, really funny, and just wonderful, and I loved seeing how everything came to be. To be honest, I never asked myself about any of it, but I'm glad the author decided to write this story, because it was quite imaginative & almost perfect, and I'm glad I read it, because I didn't know what I was missing.

If I've read The Magician's Nephew when I was just a little girl, I know that it would've been one of my most favs, and I would've returned to it over & over again. But, even now, I know I'll definitely read this one again, and love it once more, and it will always be one of my favs, so if you still haven't read this book, what are you waiting for?

  1. I read the first three chronological novels of this series, The Magician's Nephew, The Lion, The Witch, & The Wardrobe, and The Horse & His Boy. I agree that the first two were excellent and once I find the opportunity, I may reread this one. This novel was definitely necessary, for it told of the creation of what is now known as Narnia, and I feel that C.S. Lewis did a brilliant job creating this series.

    1. I agree :) I've actually been reading them in the publication order, and the only one I haven't read is the last one The Last Battle, but these 2 are the best. I'm planning to read the last one soon.

    2. Quite the approach. It all depends on how you got the collection. In the box set, they were chronological, so I'll need to read Prince Caspian, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, The Silver Chair, and The Last Battle. The first two provide you with the meat of the series (Magician being the creation and Wardrobe the central story). The others introduce you to something completely different, while the Silver Chair holds little to no connection to the original piece. The Last Battle sums everything up, so hopefully it's a strong conclusion! Enjoy!
