Summary:

When the King of the Assassins gives Celaena Sardothien a special assignment that will help fight slavery in the kingdom, she jumps at the chance to strike a blow against an evil practice. The mission is a dark and deadly affair which takes Celaena from the rooftops of the city to the bottom of the sewer —and she doesn’t like what she finds there.

 

My Thoughts on the Novella:

The Assassin & the Underworld is another great prequel novella, but the previous 2 novellas should be definitely read before reading this one. Arobynn - the King of the Assassins - is one evil, heartless & vindictive dude - I totally hate him, you have no idea how much. I already thought he was an a-hole, but he's even worse then that. This novella starts when Celaena finally arrives to Rifthold from the desert. I really enjoyed the story, but it wasn't as great as the previous one, but I guess it was actually a set up for the last novella & what happens next. I'm already sad thinking about it, since I've already read Throne of Glass, so I know a few things that will happen. But, back to the novella, I still loved Celaena as a character, although she was a little naive & a little blind, though I guess she didn't want to see it, so I felt a touch of irritated, but only a little. And I totally have the biggest crush on Sam, I just love him so much, he's such an amazing guy & such an amazing character, and the way he treats Celaena made him totally swoonworthy in my book, and I'm not one that swoons easy & often :D 

 

I love that Sarah J Maas has worked so much on the backstory of her characters, so they're all well-developed. Now I see why I loved Celaena the moment I met her in Throne of Glass, and reading these novellas makes me want to read it again!

Summary:

My Thoughts on the Novella:

I loved this prequel novella even more! I was surprised by how much I liked the Silent Assassins & their "society". Of course this novel was even more action filled then the previous one, and I loved the friendship that developed between Celaena & Ansel. This novella was both lots of fun, as well as really sad. What happened to Celaena & Sam after the events in the previous novella was almost heartbreaking, I got almost teary-eyed - Arobynn is one big a-hole. Also, reading these novellas are making me want to re-read Throne of Glass so much. Ansel's story was also so sad. I loved that we glimpsed more from the fantasy world in this novella, as I've said before - the series has potential to become really amazing. The story was so great, I loved the writing style, and I'm actually hoping we'll get to see more of the Silent Assassins in the series, and I couldn't stop reading this & I loved every second of it, and I can't recommend it enough, although you have to read The Assassin & the Pirate Lord first before reading this one.

Summary:

My Thoughts on the Novella:

Ok, so first thing I have to mention is that I've already read Throne of Glass a few months ago, and I thought it was great, so I've been looking forward to reading the prequel novellas!

I don't want to go into too many details, but The Assassin and the Pirate Lord is really great prequel to Throne of Glass  that I recommend a lot & it will left you wanting for more. I liked a lot Celaena in this novella, she continues to be one of my fav kickass heroines, and as always she made me laugh. And of course, there's Sam, I liked him quite a lot, too, and I can't wait to see what will happen next.  

Although the series is fantasy, I felt like reading an adventure, I guess it's like adventure fantasy ;) I just couldn't stop reading it, and yeah, I loved every second of it. The story was great, of course there was lots of action, as well as suspense that hints what will happen later on, and I can't wait to read all of these novellas.
