Top 10 of 2013: Best Couples of 2013!

This event is hosted by Rachel @ Fiktshun, Jaime @ Two Chicks on Books & Mindy @ Magical Urban Fantasy Reads.

For today's theme we choose between Villains, Contemporaries, Dual POVs, Novellas, Adult titles, New Adult titles, Love Triangles, Couples, Bad Boys or Debuts.

In 2011, I did a list for Best Characters, in 2012 I did a Best Debuts list, but this year I decided for Best Couples. And it will be tough to narrow it down only to 10, but I'll try. And for today's theme we can choose from any books we read in 2013, no matter when they were published.

 Best Couples of 2013:

#1 - Han & Raisa from Cinda Williams Chima's Seven Realms

In 2013, I read both book 3 The Gray Wolf Throne & book 4 The Crimson Crown of the Seven Realms series (I actually re-read books 1 & 2, too, but they don't count, since they're re-reads). Anyway, I absolutely adored Han & Raisa as characters, their love & interactions were so perfect & swoon-worthy, and they're actually now my most fav couple EVER! I know I'll love reading their story again & again, and never get enough of it :)

#2 - Cat & Bones from Jeaniene Frost's Night Huntress series

I finally catched up on the Night Huntress series this year, meaning I finally read books 3-6, and of course I still love Cat & Bones as a couple & probably always will :) But, my most fav without a doubt is Destined for an Early Grave.

#3 - Verity Price & Dominic De Luca from Seanan McGuire's Midnight Blue-Light Special

Verity & Dominic is another couple that I absolutely loved seeing together in this 2nd InCryptid book, I just love them so much as a couple, and I'm so happy for them both ^_^ Yeah, I totally adore the series & everyone in it!

#4 - Scarlet & Wolf from Marissa Meyer's Scarlet

I adore Scarlet & Wolf as characters, but I adore them even more as a couple. I need more!!!

#5 - Alexia & Conall Maccon from Gail Carriger's Timeless

I already loved Alexia & Conall as a couple, but in Timeless, we finally got more romantic interactions between them, and I loved every second of it, so they'll always stay one of my fav couples, and it was so sad saying goodbye to them this year.

#6 - Cassel & Lila from Holly Black's Black Heart

I adore Cassel Sharpe, and after everything he & Lila have been through, I loved them both as a couple in Black Heart, they were so sweet & so perfect for each other.

#7 - Simon & Caroline from Alice Clayton's Wallbanger

Wallbanger is one of the best & most entertaining adult contemporary romances I've read. I loved the way Simon & Caroline, despite their instant attraction, they actually got to know each other first, they became friends, then best friends, before they jumped each other ;) The way their love developed was lovely, and I could understand how & why they fell for each other. If only all the romance books were like that...

#8 - Ali & Cole from Gena Showalter's White Rabbit Chronicles

I love Ali & Cole as characters & I love them as a couple. Their chemistry is sizzling, and I love their interactions.

#9 - Paris & Sienna from Gena Showalter's The Darkest Seduction

Paris & Sienna are perfect for each other, and I loved them as a couple. They were actually quite sweet, and that was unexpected, Paris being possessed by the demon of Promiscuity & Sienna being possessed by the demon of Wrath, but they were & they totally made it work for them, so yeah, loved them as a couple :)

#10 - Carlos & Kiara from Simone Elkeles's Rules of Attraction

I did not expect to love both Kiara & Carlos so much as characters, and to love them both even more as a couple, but I absolutely did. They were just perfect for each other, and I loved their interactions :)

Honorable Mentions:

- Jess & Rourke from Amanda Carlson's Jessica McClain series - Jess is awesome & kick-ass, Rourke is even more awesome & kick-ass, so they together are one dangerous couple, with awesome chemistry & I love them as a couple
- Katie & Alex from Laura Bickle's The Outside - love them so much, they're so sweet together :)
- Howl & Sophie from Diana Wynne Jones's Castle in the Air & House of Many Ways - one of my most fav couples, and I totally forgot to put them in the top 10, so honorable mention it is ;)
- Denise & Spade from Jeaniene Frost's First Drop of Crimson - loved them & I loved their story
- Mencheres & Kyra from Jeaniene Frost's Eternal Kiss of Darkness - loved them, too & their story
- Kaylee & Tod from Rachel Vincent's With All My Soul - and of course I had to mention them :)

...and I can probably go on & on, so I'll stop now ^_^

  3. I think I need to write a proper comment tomorrow. I'm so worn out right now, but I had to check out your post anyways, and I regret it so much. The Seven Realms series and my need to read it is slaying me, especially because I usually always agree with you when you enjoy a title or a particular couple, which means I'll most likely LOVE that series, too, and WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS TO ME? DDDD:

    ...

    /still sobbing tbh

    1. I hope you had a great Christmas :)

I really hope you'll get & love the Seven Realms as much as I did, I know I bugged you about them a lot this year, but they're so amazing, and that finale WOW!

But at least you finally got to read Cashore's Seven Kingdoms, and I know how much you fell in love with them, although these are different from them, still I'm happy I helped with your slump ^_^

      Thanks for stopping by, Patricia!

    2. I did! Thank you! (I hope you'll have a great Christmas :'D)

I've got this tradition of not doing anything on New Year's Eve (Maybe it's so that, if I ever really don't get invited anywhere, people will just think I'm my usual anti-social self? Hahaha) so maybe I'll just read a lot then and start the year with a great series. (That reminds me.. I still haven't picked my 2014 song. This year it was that one from Jason Segel.. "Cause Peter you suck, Peter you suck, Peter your music is fucking terrible. [..] I hate the psychiatrist; well go see one anyway!")

Anyway, I'm super grateful that the whole "oops realms =/ kingdoms" slip up let to me FINALLY reading again, and I'm really excited for the Seven Realms series. :)

Alexia and Conell... I heard they were a couple from the beginning of book #1? I own the first two (the second I got as a gift from Crini (allaboutbooks) two years ago? Whoa..) so I thought about starting those two, now that the series is allegedly finished.. Should I?

    3. Thanks, Patricia, I had a great Christmas, too, and I hope you had a great Birthday ^_^

On Alexia & Conall, yup they become a couple in the 1st book Soulless, but then there are some ups & downs, and to be honest, the series is not a lot about the romance, and I actually only absolutely loved books 1 & 5, books 2-4 for me were between liking & loving overall, but the series & the characters are addicting & entertaining, and the books should be read in order.
So since you already have the first 2 books, you should give them a try when you'll be in a mood for something entertaining.
To be honest, I hadn't realised how much I loved all of these characters until I went back & reread Soulless, which I think I did between reading books 4 & 5, and I realised that they all (main & secondary) have gotten under my skin, with the exception of only 1 character, she actually joined the "gang" in book 2, and I didn't manage to warm up to her, and I still can't quite point out why, but the rest I adore :) so, I hope you'll enjoy the series when you get to them :)
