What's Next? is a weekly meme hosted by IceyBooks.
Every Thursday, select 3-5 books (not
too many, not too little!) that you want to read but can't decide which
one to read first.
Post the cover, and if you want, the synopsis or even a random line from the book, for each of your selections.
At the end of your post, ask readers to vote on which one you should read next!
Even if you don't end up reading your readers' top choice, you'll know what the majority is excited for.

My picks this week are:
Darkhouse (Joe Lucchesi, #1) by Alex Barclay
EVERYTHING YOU NEVER
EXPECTED.
Escaping New York for the beautiful Irish Isle seemed the best
way to escape the past for NYPD detective Joe Lucchesi and his family.
But following the death of a girl in the local village, Joe soon finds
out that the killer is closer to his past than he would care to
remember.
From a broken childhood comes an unbreakable and deadly bond.
In
1985 in a North Texas backwater, two teenage boys made a chilling pact
that would unite them forever in a dark and twisted loyalty.
Now one lies dead. And the man responsible is going to pay.
When
a routine investigation comes to a violent and tragic end, Detective
Joe Lucchesi takes leave from the NYPD and moves with his wife and son
to a quiet village on the south east coast of Ireland. They're happy.
They're safe. And they're about to enter a nightmare more terrifying
than the one they left behind.
When a young girl goes missing and
the village closes ranks, Detective Lucchesi sets out to find the truth
and uncovers a sinister trail that leads from the other side of the
Atlantic and cuts directly to the very heart of his family.
His wife is lying. His son is lying. And a killer is lying in wait.
In The Dark by Mark Billingham
On a rainy city night, a
handgun is fired at random. A struck car swerves and plows into a bus
stop, killing an unsuspecting bystander. In an explosive instant, a
cold-blooded gang initiation ends one life and forever changes three
others: the desperate teenager who pulled the trigger . . . a
policewoman on maternity leave . . . and an aging gangster plotting a
terrifying revenge.
The truth about the shocking incident will tie them all together in a lethal blood knot. And nothing is what it seems.
"In
the Dark" is the most powerful and unflinching crime novel yet from the
remarkable Mark Billingham - a gripping journey into the modern urban
darkness where violence is both indiscriminate and meticulously planned,
and youth gangs take on established criminals for rule of the streets.
Heart-Shaped Box by Joe Hill
Aging, self-absorbed
rock star Judas Coyne has a thing for the macabre -- his collection
includes sketches from infamous serial killer John Wayne Gacy, a
trepanned skull from the 16th century, a used hangman's noose, Aleister
Crowley's childhood chessboard, etc. -- so when his assistant tells him
about a ghost for sale on an online auction site, he immediately puts in
a bid and purchases it.
The black, heart-shaped box that Coyne
receives in the mail not only contains the suit of a dead man but also
his vengeance-obsessed spirit. The ghost, it turns out, is the
stepfather of a young groupie who committed suicide after the
54-year-old Coyne callously used her up and threw her away. Now,
determined to kill Coyne and anyone who aids him, the merciless ghost of
Craddock McDermott begins his assault on the rocker's sanity.
