"The Last Battle" by C. S. Lewis

Title: The Last Battle

Author: C. S. Lewis

Series: The Chronicles of Narnia, #7

My rating: 4.5 of 5

(Book read from February 21st to February 23rd, 2014.)

Summary:

The last battle is the greatest battle of all.

Narnia... where lies breed fear... where loyalty is tested... where all hope seems lost.

During the last days of Narnia, the land faces its fiercest challenge - not an invader from without but an enemy from within. Lies and treachery have taken root, and only the king and a small band of loyal followers can prevent the destruction of all they hold dear in this, the magnificent ending to the Chronicles of Narnia.

My Thoughts on the Book:

The Last Battle is the final book in the Chromicles of Narnia series. As the title implies, it's about the last battle that happened in Narnia, the battle for Narnia itself.

I have to admit that at first, I didn't really like this book. I felt it was a little bit pointless, because the way the book was written & the way the story developed, I was thinking that there shouldn't have been a final book at all, but that the author should've left it to the reader's imagination.

But, here's where the author managed to dupe me. Let's just say that I was fooled, and didn't quite realise what the author has in store for us & for Narnia itself, and I loved it! It was quite lovely & beautiful & magical, and perfect, and I loved this ending, both as an ending of this book, as well as the ending of the Chronicles of Narnia!

The story was fun, humorous, entertaining, magical & beautiful. We also met a lot of our favorite characters from all of the books, and we met some new ones, too.

What I have to point out is that this final book made me want to read all of the books again, something I never thought I'll want to do again. I mean, I planned to read again those that I loved, but not all of them, since I didn't enjoy all of them equally, but now I want to read all of them, though the next time I'll read them in the chronological order, not in the publication order. I actually read them in the publication order on purpose, I wanted to read them in the order the author wrote them, but now I'd like to read them in the chronological order, and closer to each other, maybe even back to back, though that will happen some time in the future, not soon.

If you're like me, and maybe you still haven't read the Chronicles of Narnia, I highly recommend them. There's a reason why the series is a classic, and every fan of fantasy books should read them!

"The Magician's Nephew" by C. S. Lewis

Title: The Magician's Nephew

Author: C. S. Lewis

Series: The Chronicles of Narnia, #6

My rating: 5 of 5

(Book read on February 13th, 2014.)

Summary:

The Adventure Begins.

Narnia... where Talking Beasts walk... where a Witch waits... where a new world is about to be born.

On a daring quest to save a life, two friends are hurled into another world, where an evil sorceress seeks to enslave them. But then the lion Aslan's song weaves itself into the fabric of a new land, a land that will be known as Narnia. And in Narnia, all things are possible...

My Thoughts on the Book:

The Magician's Nephew was a pleasant surprise for me. I've had mixed feelings when it comes to the Chronicles of Narnia series while reading them. Some books I enjoyed quite a lot, they made me laugh & they were fun, but some I found really boring & didn't like at all, and the only one I loved was The Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe, of course. That is, until now. I loved The Magician's Nephew, and I can't decide which one I love more, but this one just might be my most fav one.

In The Magician's Nephew, we meet Polly & Digory. I loved their story, from the way they meet, to the adventure they go on, I adored every second of it & I adored them. They were fun, sweet, smart, brave & so lovable.

As for the story itself, I loved it also. It had that mood of classic fairytales or folktales or some other fantasy adventures I read a lot of when I was just a little girl, and I love that type of books, so of course I loved this one. The adventure was adventurous, entertaining, a little bit suspenseful, really funny, and just wonderful, and I loved seeing how everything came to be. To be honest, I never asked myself about any of it, but I'm glad the author decided to write this story, because it was quite imaginative & almost perfect, and I'm glad I read it, because I didn't know what I was missing.

If I've read The Magician's Nephew when I was just a little girl, I know that it would've been one of my most favs, and I would've returned to it over & over again. But, even now, I know I'll definitely read this one again, and love it once more, and it will always be one of my favs, so if you still haven't read this book, what are you waiting for?

My thoughts on the book:
I liked this one a lot! Although the first few chapters were a little boring to me, after that it became much better & really funny! My favorite character was definitely Eustace! Although he was one spoiled little brat, he cracked me up. I'm glad that the next book is with him, so I'm looking forward to reading it! Really fun children's book & I recommend it! I'm also looking forward to the movie.
