The Black
(Morpheus Road, Book 2)
by
D. J. MacHale
Publication date:
April 19, 2011
The Light, the first book on the Morpheus Road series was one of my favourite reads last year, so I can't wait to read this one! If you haven't read The Light, don't read the summary below, because has spoilers!
Summary:
Cooper Foley always had a knack for finding trouble, but nothing he’s ever experienced could have prepared him for his latest adventure: He has landed square in the middle of a border war between the worlds of the living and the dead.
At the end of The Light, Book One of the Morpheus Road trilogy, Marshall Seaver learned the truth about what happened to his missing best friend, Cooper. Now, the mystery continues to unfold, only this time through Cooper’s eyes.
What did Marshall’s terrifying encounters with Gravedigger have to do with spirits from another existence? Who is Damon, and what role did he play in Cooper’s dilemma? Most importantly, what is the mysterious Morpheus Road? It’s time to learn, as bestselling author and master of thrilling suspense D.J. MacHale delivers another fast-paced, fantastical story that has all of existence hanging in the balance.
Everfound
(Skinjacker trilogy, book 3)
by
Neal Shusterman
Publication date:
May 3, 2011
I loved both Everlost & Everwild, so I can't wait to read this one, too! There are some spoilers in the summary below if you haven't read the first two books & if you haven't, I highly recommend them!
Summary:
While Mary lies in a glass coffin aboard a ghost train heading west, her minions are awaiting her re-awakening by bringing lots of new souls into Everlost to serve her. Meanwhile Jackin' Jill has met Jix, a fur-jacker - a skin jacker who can take over the bodies of animals, most notably jaguars. Jix serves a Mayan god who collects Everlost coins, and has his own agenda.
In the concluding volume of The Skinjacker Trilogy, Neal Shusterman reveals new sides of the characters of Everlost, who are pitted against each other in a battle that may destroy all life on Earth.
Faerie Winter
(Faerie, Book 2)
by
Janni Lee Simner
Publication date:
April 5, 2011
I loved Bones of Faerie, the first book in the series, so I can't wait to read this one, too!
Summary:
Fans of dark fantasy and dystopian adventure discovered Janni Lee Simner's first novel, Bones of Faerie, to be an exciting twist on a favorite theme. Now fans of Holly Black, Melissa Marr, and Cassandra Clare can return to Janni's unique vision of a magic-infused postapocalyptic world where war between Faerie and humanity has left both realms devastated.
The war has been over for 40 years, and finally Liza's town is accepting children born with fairy talents. Then a nearby town is destroyed, and Liza discovers that the war might not be over after all. It seems some faeries survived and have crossed over into the human world to continue the fight. And the most powerful and merciless of them all - the Queen herself - may be among them...
A Lot Like Love
by
Julie James
Publication date:
March 1, 2011
I've read & love all books by Julie James, so I can't wait for this one, too!
The FBI wants her cooperation.
As the daughter of a billionaire and the owner of the city’s top wine store, Jordan Rhodes is invited to the most exclusive parties in Chicago. But there’s only one party the FBI wants to crash: the charity fundraiser of a famous restaurateur, who also happens to launder money for the mob. In exchange for her brother’s release from prison, Jordan is going to be there—with a date supplied by the Bureau.
Agent McCall just wants her.
As the top undercover agent in Chicago, Nick McCall has one rule: never get personal. This “date” with Jordan Rhodes is merely an assignment—one they’re both determined to pull off even if they can’t be together for five minutes before the sarcasm and sparks begin to fly. But when Nick’s investigation is compromised, he and Jordan have no choice but to pretend they’re a couple, and what starts out as a simple assignment begins to feel a lot like something more. . .
A superb pick! It looks great. Happy Reading :)
