Summary:

New York Times bestselling author Gena Showalter returns with a sizzling Angels of the Dark tale about a winged warrior renowned for his ruthlessness, and the woman who becomes his obsession...

A tormented past has left Thane with an insatiable need for violence, making him the most dangerous assassin in the skies.
He lives by a single code: no mercy. And as he unleashes his fury on his most recent captor, he learns no battle could have prepared him for the slave he rescues from his enemy's clutches — a beauty who stokes the fires of his darkest desires.

Elin Vale has her own deep-rooted scars, and her attraction to the exquisite warrior who freed her challenges her every boundary.
But Thane's unwavering determination to protect her means she must face her greatest fears — and enter a world in which passion is power, and victory means breathtaking surrender.

My Thoughts on the Book:

Burning Dawn is the third & so far the best book in the Angels of the Dark series, and I'm left wanting for more of these characters and their world.

I had my doubts before reading the first book, mostly because I'm not a fan of angel books, but because I'm a fan of the Lords of the Underworld series & characters, I decided to give it a try, and now I'm thoroughly hooked & addicted. I guess, if someone changed my mind when it comes to angels, I should've guess it will be Gena Showalter. Burning Dawn is amazing paranormal romance, and one of the best books set in that world (in the Lords of the Underworld series & this spin-off).

From the moment I met Thane in Wicked Nights, I was intrigued by him & wanted to read his story. And now I absolutely adore him. What he has been through, and why he is who he is right now, and the friendship, loyalty & brotherly love between him, Bjorn & Xerxes (which is absolutely amazing), and the man he became now, everything was depicted through the story, so the readers will get to know him, and probably adore him like me.

I adored the banter between Thane, Xerxes & Bjorn. Now I can definitely understand them & their connection, and they're like family & best friends rolled into one, and to be honest, their loyalty is amazing. Also, now I'm really interested in both Xerxes & Bjorn's stories. I didn't care before this book, but now I hope I won't wait too long for them.

As for the female main character - Elin Vale - she was absolutely amazing! From the moment I started reading her PoV, I knew I will love her as a character, and I was right. She might be vulnerable, but she's also a fighter, a survivor, and actually quite strong, she's smart, sweet, funny, adorable & snarky - and who doesn't love that? Especially in a book character. I know I'm a sucker for that ;)

Anyway, she was awesome, and I loved the way she stood up to Thane, fought for what she believed in & wanted, and I loved the banter & interactions between her & Thane. They were all kinds of adorable (imagine, the terrifying Thane adorable), and so entertaining & charming, too. I also appreciated that there wasn't too much drama or possessiveness. Yes, they both felt that, but they didn't act too much on it, they actually tried to give themselves a little space first, and after they fought, despite getting away a.k.a storming off, they quickly realised their mistake, and so on. It was all done almost perfectly, that's why I loved this book so much.

Another thing I quite loved were the secondary characters. I adored seeing again Anya, Axel, Lucien, Zacharel, Kaia & a few of the other harpies, as well as the mention of some the characters I know & love, but I also loved getting to know Bellorie, Chanel, Octavia & Savanna - they were hilarious & so much fun, I'm definitely intrigued by Adrian, too, and there were lots of others that I'm excited about learning more about in the future books. As I said, now I'm throughly addicted to the Angels of the Dark series.

But, even though the story was funny, charming, entertaining & sweet, it was also heartbreaking and full of danger. It wasn't all nice, there were the villains, the secondary story, lots of dangerous fights for your life situations, deaths, and all of that completed one story that made me unable to stop reading this book until I finished it.

I highly recommend Burning Dawn to every fan of adult paranormal romances. And I highly recommend Gena Showalter's books, she's my most favorite adult paranormal romances, and author I'll always read more of, and the world she created in both Lords of the Underworld and expanded even more in the Angels of the Dark series is amazing & addicting, so I highly recommend them all!
